Mass protests have kept the country paralyzed for more than a month. DROPS Lebanon monitors the situation on a daily basis to ensure the safety and security of its staff and beneficiaries. So far we have implemented our programs without major interruptions.

The beginning of the year marked a new and very exciting development for DROPS. For the first time, our organization opened a new vocational training class in underprivileged Lebanese neighbourhoods in Tripoli City. Through this program expansion, juniors from neighbourhoods that had been engaged in decades of conflict have the opportunity to bridge long-standing differences and learn together.

DROPS is excited to announce our cooperation with DROSOS Foundation. The general director of DROPS Lebanon met with the representatives of the foundation and began planning for the 18-month project to begin in September. The new project includes expansion of our activities to underprivileged neighbourhoods in Tripoli and dedicated capacity building for our local staff in Lebanon.

In the beginning of July, our juniors began theory-based classes at the Tamkeen Vocational Centre in Tripoli. We wish them successful studies!

DROPS is happy to announce the start of its 8th class, following restructuring and improvements to the Junior Professionals Program. For the first in the history of the program, the annual on the job training will be complemented with theoretical classes at a renowned vocational centre. We wish our juniors a successful training year!

To thank the local community for their support during the DROPS training year, our juniors from class 7 built a roof for a school playground in Nahr al Bared to protect children from rain and strong sun. They also built a volleyball playground – something the school children very much wished for.

Ragda is a Syrian refugee. She comes from the Palestinian camp of Yarmouk that was completely destroyed during the civil war. Thanks to DROPS she trained as a nurse and can now help many people in need. Read her story under What WE DO and help us to support other girls and boys like her.

The 7th class of DROPS Junior Professionals is graduating soon! With your financial support, we have the chance to help 60 hopeful young people to embark on professional and personal development journeys to overcome external risks of marginalization.
